Only YOU occupies the La Equitativa building opposite the port at the beginning of Calle Marqués de Larios. Why choose it: it combines a central sightseeing location with convenient access to the airport train and the Soho/port side of the centre.

3. H10 Croma Málaga — best for a modern central stay
H10 Croma Málaga is close to Atarazanas Market and Calle Larios in the historic centre. The hotel was designed by architect Rafael Moneo and its current facilities include rooms with terraces, a rooftop bar and restaurant, plunge pool, gym and private underground parking for a fee.
Why choose it: it is a good fit if you want a contemporary hotel while remaining firmly inside the walkable city-centre area.
Trade-off: if your priority is stepping straight onto the beach, La Malagueta or La Caleta will suit you better.

4. Gran Hotel Miramar — best for luxury near the beach

The Parador sits on Mount Gibralfaro beside the castle area, above the city and port. Paradores lists an outdoor pool, restaurant, electric-vehicle charging and rooms with views over Málaga.
Why choose it: the elevated setting offers a different experience from sleeping inside the busy historic centre, especially if views and a calmer evening atmosphere matter more than being surrounded by shops.
Trade-off: the hilltop position is less convenient for repeatedly walking back and forth to the centre. Check your transport plan if anyone in your group has limited mobility.

Do you need a car in Málaga?
For a city-only break, usually not. The centre is compact, many attractions are walkable and the C1 suburban train connects the airport with the city. A car becomes more useful if you plan to explore smaller Costa del Sol towns or inland destinations that are awkward by public transport.

Do not compare only the headline nightly rate. Check breakfast, parking, cancellation rules, room category and whether the price includes the same taxes and conditions. A central hotel that removes daily taxi costs can be better value than a cheaper room farther away.
