Travel Booking Toolkit: Hotel Cost, OTA Comparison & Checklist

Three free travel-booking tools in one place. Calculate the real cost of a hotel stay, compare an OTA with booking directly, and run through a practical pre-payment checklist before you confirm a reservation.

The calculators run entirely in your browser. Hispaads does not receive or store the numbers you enter.

Hotel total-cost calculator

A nightly rate can look cheap until taxes, resort fees, parking, breakfast and booking charges are added. Enter only the costs that apply to your stay. Leave anything irrelevant at zero.

Applied to the room subtotal only.
Deducted once from the total.
Enter your costs and calculate.
Tip: compare the final payable amount, not just the nightly rate. If two rates have different cancellation rules or room types, they are not truly equivalent offers.

OTA vs direct booking comparator

Use this when you have two real offers for the same hotel, dates and room type. Enter the final price shown by the OTA and the final direct-booking price. Then add the estimated value of useful extras included with each offer, such as breakfast or parking. If you are still deciding whether to book online, directly with the hotel or at reception, see our online vs in-person hotel booking guide.

OTA offer

Only count extras you would otherwise pay for.

Direct hotel offer

Enter both offers and compare.

Price is not the whole decision

The result is a financial comparison only. A lower adjusted cost does not automatically make an offer better if its cancellation or support conditions are worse.

Pre-payment travel booking checklist

Use this immediately before paying for a hotel, flight, package or other travel reservation. The checklist is deliberately practical: it focuses on the details that are easiest to overlook at checkout.

Privacy: ticking these boxes does not send the checklist to Hispaads. The state exists only on the page while you use it.

How to use the toolkit effectively

Start with the hotel total-cost calculator when a booking page shows a low base rate but several extras. Use the OTA vs direct comparator only after you have two genuinely comparable offers. Finish with the checklist immediately before payment.

The most important habit is to compare like with like. A refundable room with breakfast should not be treated as identical to a non-refundable room-only rate simply because both are labeled “standard room”. The same principle applies to flights: baggage, seat conditions and change rules can alter the real value of a fare.

These tools are intended for planning and comparison. They do not predict future prices, verify an individual booking, or replace the terms shown by the travel provider at checkout.
